After years of wanting to start a blog—and a therapist's suggestion to try journaling—Thea finally says hello.
I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now. Like, really wanting to. For months—maybe even years—I'd imagine what my first post would look like. The perfect photo. The clever opening line. A neat little bow on top of a beautifully told story.
But that post never got written. Because nothing ever felt quite ready. So here's the truth: this blog exists because my therapist told me to try journaling. She said it would help. With the overthinking. With the racing thoughts. With the quiet pressure I put on myself to make everything look effortless and polished.
And I tried. I really did. I bought a nice notebook. I picked out a pen that felt good in my hand., and I even got a lot of art supplies.
And then… nothing. Within a week, the notebook was collecting dust on my bookshelf.
Because here's the thing about being a perfectionist: journaling is hard. There's no audience. No delete button. No chance to reframe or retouch. Just you, your thoughts, and the terrifying freedom to be messy.
So I stopped. And I decided to give away my art supplies.
But the idea of writing never left. And eventually, I realized something: maybe I don't need a private journal. Maybe I need a public one. A space where the mess is allowed—not because it's perfect, but because it's real.
That's what this blog is.
Not a highlight reel. Not a carefully curated portfolio. Just me—Thea—sharing bits of my personal life, life updates, and travel adventures as they actually happen. Sometimes funny (I try my best). Sometimes chaotic. Always honest. And maybe even raw? Can't promise that it won't get political tho.
So if you're someone who's also struggled to start something because it wouldn't be "perfect" right away—you're in good company.
